You may have noticed that I like to paint winter scenes if you’ve followed my work. I get questions about why I do this; one reason is that I find the scenes more interesting to paint than during the greener seasons.
I read about Jason Paugh of Red House, near Deep Creek Lake, officially becoming the fourth Master Angler awarded under the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’FishMaryland program. The highest award in the program recognizes the skill and determination required to catch ten trophy-size fish species in Maryland that all meet the minimum award sizes. Congratulations, Jason!
Fishing on Deep Creek Lake
Jason caught a lot of fish to receive this designation, including a crappie. He hooked most of them on Deep Creek Lake. This made me think of a painting I did a while ago, Crappie Run, based on a fisherman fishing for Crappie on the lake. I used to do a lot of fishing on the lake as well.
The Garrett County Artist Studio Tour is less than two weeks away – on July 22-23, 2023, from 11 am – 5 pm daily. This tour showcases county artists’ working studios. Residents and tourists are encouraged to travel the scenic byways of Garrett County to meet local artists and view them at work.
If you cannot make the tour but would like to visit my studio, please get in touch, and I’ll be happy to set up a time for you to stop by.
Location
My studio is located at 2355 Turkey Neck Road, Swanton, MD. 21561.
My last few blog posts have featured work on paper created several years ago. Now that I’m back in my Garrett County art studio, it’s time to post paintings finished over the winter.
Also, I’m about to reboot my email newsletter, so if you’re not on the list and would like to be, please join here.
