It’s a new year, and with that comes new art. Below is my latest, Coastal Tint.
Hilton Head Island has been a gathering spot for our family for years. A wide variety of inspiration exists on this barrier island, from the beaches to grassy dunes, maritime forests, and wetlands. I posted some art from a vacation back in this post in 2020.
One spot I like to paint is around the pond near Lawton Stables in Sea Pines Resort. Below are two pieces that developed after an afternoon of sketching around the pond.

Intracoastal is the second in my series from Key Largo.
I’ve never tried kitesurfing, but I’ve had the opportunity to watch some action close up on a few occasions.
This year, the family gathered on Hilton Head Island to celebrate Christmas. The first part of the week was rainy, as much of the southeast was right before the holiday. Thankfully, the second half of the week cleared up, and we were able to get some beach and golf time in.
This area of the country has provided a lot of subject matter from my paintings, from coastal scenes to wildlife and working boats.
