New Artwork: Ladies Golf

Did You Know June is Women’s Golf Month?

June is designated as Women’s Golf Month – a joint effort of the LPGA, PGA of America, National Golf Course Owners Association and the LPGA Amateur Golf Association.

Coincidentally, I recently finished some work featuring women golfers as the subject matter.

Save the Date for the Garrett County Studio Tour

The Garrett County Artist Studio Tour is Back

The Garrett County Artist Studio Tour returns on July 27th and 28th, 2024, from 11 am to 5 pm daily.

This event, organized by the Garrett County Arts Council, offers a chance to step behind the scenes and into local artists’ studios.

What to Expect:

  • Meet the Artists: Get to know the faces behind the work.   Talk with them about their creative process, what inspires them, and the techniques they use to bring their work to life.
  • Explore Diverse Media: The tour showcases a wide range of artistic styles and mediums, from painting and pottery to photography and jewelry design.
  • Scenic Byway Adventure: The studios are spread throughout Garrett County, so you can turn the tour into a scenic drive.
  • Support Local Art: This is a great opportunity to find a unique piece for your home or a special gift.

Stay Tuned!

In the coming weeks, I’ll share more details about my studio and the pieces I’ll be featuring on the tour. In the meantime, mark your calendars for July 27th and 28th.

Wintry Garrett County

You may have noticed that I like to paint winter scenes if you’ve followed my work. I get questions about why I do this; one reason is that I find the scenes more interesting to paint than during the greener seasons.

Garrett County Winter Scenes

Tis the season, so we put together this viewing gallery of Garrett County scenes in winter. Check back periodically as I’ll be adding more.

Stanton’s Mill in December

Crappie Run

I read about Jason Paugh of Red House, near Deep Creek Lake, officially becoming the fourth Master Angler awarded under the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ FishMaryland program. The highest award in the program recognizes the skill and determination required to catch ten trophy-size fish species in Maryland that all meet the minimum award sizes. Congratulations, Jason!

Fishing on Deep Creek Lake

Jason caught a lot of fish to receive this designation, including a crappie. He hooked most of them on Deep Creek Lake. This made me think of a painting I did a while ago, Crappie Run, based on a fisherman fishing for Crappie on the lake. I used to do a lot of fishing on the lake as well.
