It’s Duck Season

My hometown has gone duck crazy since Devlin Hodges took over as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to being a professional football player, Hodges is a champion duck caller, hence his nickname, “The Duck”. To join in all the excitement, here is some old but related work.

If you want to learn more about the likable Duck, here’s “Duck Calling with Devlin” on Youtube.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

If you are interested in purchasing original art, cards or prints for the holidays, here is everything you need to know.

Western Maryland

My original art, prints and hand-signed cards can be purchased at the Garrett County Arts Council.

I also have some original art, prints and cards on display at the gift shop inside Penn Alps, next to Spruce Forest Artisan Village in Grantsville.

Online Purchases

Original art

Original art can be purchased directly from me.  Please get in touch at rhyonke@gmail.com if you’re thinking about a purchase for the holidays.  Please contact me with any questions about any work.  Or, if you saw something at my studio but can’t find it online, get in touch and I can see if the painting is still available.  I will be shipping original art out of my studio the week of December 1st, so plan now if you’d like to have something in time for gift giving.

Fine Art America

Much of my work is now posted at my Fine Art America site, and all of it is available for purchase in prints and cards.

Prints

The high quality prints come in up to 15 different sizes and you can customize them with hundreds of mat and framing options.  The site allows you to sort through a variety of mats and frames, previewing your image with your selected choices.  The prints also arrive framed with the supplies that you will need to mount them onto your wall.

Cards

While all of the images are available to print as cards, I set up a Christmas Card gallery, featuring cards like “Santa”, for easier holiday card browsing.   The card size is 5″x7″ and they include a white envelope.  You can imprint a custom message inside the card, which I think is a nice feature.   When you click on the greeting card, make sure you choose the drop down box to indicate your quantity of cards, as the price drastically reduces the more cards that you buy.

You can find information regarding Fine Art America shipping here.  As with any holiday gift, I would recommend you get started with your plans sooner rather than later.

Thank you in advance if you’re considering a purchase.  It is always an honor and I appreciate your business.

Our Laurel Highlands

Travel bloggers recently voted the Laurel Highlands region as one of the top thirty emerging travel regions on the entire planet.

Someone else’s new and shiny object is another’s tried and true treasure.  Our family has been enjoying the area for many years.  As newlyweds, the Queen Bee and I skied at Bear Rocks  and Laurel Mountain.   We spent most summer weekends boating on Youghiogheny River Lake, or the “Yough” as we referred to it.  Finally, we ended up recreating on Deep Creek Lake in nearby Garrett County, Maryland.  Technically, I don’t think Garrett County is considered part of the Laurel Highlands, but they share many similarities.

If you’re out of the area, now you have a new destination for your bucket list.

The Laurel Highlands inspired many of my paintings.  Pictured below is Aurelia, a historic home situated along the National Road in Addison, PA.

Rivers and Roads

In this artist statement, I explain how my love for waterways started back when I was a boy, and my father would take me with him to the Pittsburgh wharves during his truck deliveries.  I came across some old photos depicting that period in time.   In this first photo, if you look closely, you’ll see the river and some working boats in the back.   I also find the old trucks pretty interesting.
