Expanding Boundaries Demonstration

This was the result from my "Expanding Boundaries" demonstration earlier this week for the Art Club in Sun City Center.  Since the demo, I added the three smaller birds, enhanced the sawgrass along with the birds' bills and legs.  This is still in progress and I'll have the result with me at the workshop in March.

Next Stop: Sun City

I'm pleased to be invited back to the Art Club in Sun City Center again this winter.  As in past years, I'll present a demo and then follow-it up a few weeks later with a workshop. The topic for both will focusing on expanding boundaries in watercolor.   We'll work on some different surfaces, including canvas and Yupo paper, and I'm going to incorporate the use of Derwent Aquatone paint sticks as I've shown in some of my recent posts.

The demonstration is open to the public, and you'll find details below.  The workshop is open to Art Club members only

Gallatin on Canvas

While we were in Montana, I did some sketching of the Gallatin River near Big sky. The first pieces were on sketch pads and Yupo paper. Since we've been back east, I started putting these on canvas using a mixed media of watercolor, Derwent Aquatone sticks and acrylic. The substrates in this series are 12 x 12 canvases with a healthy texture of gesso.

I plan to demo this technique at our coming presentation in Sun City Center, Florida, next month and include it in our workshop there in March.
