Art and Wine Special for Fine Art America

As I've posted before, I have an online gallery with Fine Art America, where you can purchase high quality prints and cards of some of my work.  October is a great month to consider ordering from FAA, as they are running an "Art and Wine" promotion.   Every purchase from the site in October comes with a $100 gift card to Naked Wines in Napa, California.   Get a jump start ordering holiday gifts or cards, and take advantage of the promotion while you're at it.   It doesn't matter how large your order is for the promotion.   If you order a single greeting card, you'll still receive the gift certificate.

Mountain Maryland Studio and Tour

If you're in Western Maryland this coming weekend, make sure you take time to attend the Mountain Maryland Studio Tour, sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council. My studio is not on the tour this year, as I had other commitments, but I encourage you to visit the talented artists in the area.    If you were planning on visiting the studio this year, and would like to set up an appointment to visit later this fall,  please contact me at

This is a great chance to visit with Western Maryland artists where they live and work, learn about their techniques and purchase some quality local art.  A guidebook for the event, which describes the artists’ work and provides a map and directions to their locations is available at the Allegany Arts Council at 9 N. Centre St., Cumberland or you can access the information at For more information, call 301-777-2787.

Weekly Studio Sessions

Are you looking to work on your watercolor technique this summer? I'm offering weekly drop-in classes again this year in my Turkey Neck Studio at Deep Creek Lake.  Sessions are on Friday mornings from 10 am til noon.

These are working sessions with an opportunity for us to paint alongside each other while we discuss various topics and try new techniques. Artists of all levels are invited to attend. Participants are free to drop in for any or all classes.

Space is limited, so please call or email at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a spot.

Friday Mornings, 10am - 12 noon
$20 per session payable by cash or check at the start of each session.

If possible, please bring your regular painting supplies. If you do not have supplies, but would like to get started with your own, I do have small kits available for purchase at the studio.

Makeshift Studio

I find myself on the go a lot, and always seem to be able to put together a makeshift studio.  The house we stayed in last week provided beach chairs that actually turned out to be a perfect chair for working, complete with built it pockets and an attached side table.  The chair also easily folds for transport.  Not so fancy, but the box was also a useful addition to my work space as well.

Old Cabin Lodge

I recently received a reminder from the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce that they'll be celebrating the 91st anniversary of Deep Creek Lake next month.  It got me to organizing my Deep Creek Lake subject matter, and I found "Old Cabin Lodge".  This was completed a while back when I was working on an Old Deep Creek series.  Most of the originals have sold, but I still have this one.
